The Deal
Iberia has released a large amount of business class award space between the US and Madrid for July 2027, on Iberia-operated flights. Many dates have 2 business class seats available, which works well for couples. These awards are booked with Avios, and a current 30% Amex transfer bonus can lower the number of Membership Rewards points you need.
The Prices
Miami to Madrid
One way: 74,000 Avios + $137.50, or about 57,000 Amex points after the 30% bonus. Round trip (business class): 148,000 Avios without the bonus, or about 114,000 Amex points after the bonus.
Taxes and fees can be higher on the way back.
New York to Madrid
One way: 59,000 Avios + $126, or about 46,000 Amex points after the 30% bonus. Round trip (business class): 118,000 Avios without the bonus, or about 91,000 Amex points after the bonus.
Taxes and fees can be higher on the way back.
July 2027 Dates
MIA to MAD: 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 (1 to 2 seats)
Find this on the British Airways website, but check Iberia too before you transfer. Book the Iberia-operated flights and avoid British Airways-operated flights, so you do not pay huge taxes and fuel surcharges.
Also worth knowing: through September 27, Amex is running a 30% bonus to Avios, so 1,000 Membership Rewards points become 1,300 Avios. That is why the after-bonus numbers above are lower than the Avios price.

Booking Tips
Find the flights first, transfer your points second. Award space can vanish and transfers usually cannot be reversed.
Search both British Airways and Iberia, confirm the seats, and compare the final Avios plus taxes before transferring.
Stick to Iberia-operated flights to keep taxes and fees low.
Move fast on the 2-seat dates. Business class for two is hard to find.
After you arrive in Spain, use your Atmos Summit card to earn 3x on all foreign purchases with no foreign transaction fee. More info here.

Bottom Line
Business class to Spain for summer 2027 is available right now, with 2-seat dates across July, from roughly 91,000 to 114,000 Amex points round trip after the 30% bonus. If you are short on points, the Amex Platinum and Business Platinum welcome bonuses can cover one or even two of these round trips. Just find your seats first, then transfer, and always compare before you book.
